Wondering what goes with an IPA? How do you pair a chocolate dessert with a beer? This tour is perfect for both the beer enthusiast and food-lover as we sample 6 local craft beers paired with 5 dishes. This leisurely walking tour also includes history and stories of historic Chinatown and the up-and-coming Design District. Beer + Food + History = one awesome food tour.
We start the tour at Varsha Indian Kitchen where we pair two craft beers with Arun’s most popular dishes: butter chicken curry, veggie pakoras and their handmade naan bread. Arun was inspired by his mother’s recipes and everyone knows that beer and Indian food are a match made in heaven.
After a leisurely stroll through historic Chinatown, we make our way to Phillip Brewing tasting room. Matt Phillips has been making beer since the early 2000’s and his beer is iconic in Victoria. A true rags to riches story, at this stop we learn all about his rise to beer stardom while we sip on two of his very best brews while sampling a gourmet pretzel made from Yonni’s Donut shop located just down the road. Lastly we end at Canoe Brewpub where we will sample 2 of their in-house beers paired with something sweet. Located in a heritage building along the Inner Harbour, this is a great place to linger and enjoy the view or continue East on the Victoria ale trail.
